Summary

TO DESCRIBE THE HEAT TRANSFER PROCESSES TAKING PLACE IN DROPWISE CONDENSATION, A METHOD BASED ON ELEMENTARY MODEL CONCEPTIONS IS INTRODUCED. IT STARTS FROM THE SIMILARITY BETWEEN BUBBLE BOILING AND DROPWISE CONDENSATION. A COMBINED FUNCTION COMPRISING TWO SECTIONS, ONE FOR THE THEORETICAL AND ONE FOR THE ENGINEERING CONDITIONS IS USED TO INTERPRET THE ENTIRE RANGE OF EXISTENCE. SELECTED EXAMPLES OF RESULTS OBTAINED FROM WATER AND MERCURY VAPOUR DROPWISE CONDENSATION EXPERIMENTS PROVE THE SUITABILITY OF THIS METHOD.
