HEAT TRANSFER ON THE OUTSIDE OF FINNED TUBES AT HIGH SATURATION PRESSURES.

Author(s) : GORENFLO D., FATH W.

Summary

THE AUTHORS MEASURED THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT FOR R22 EVAPORATING OUTSIDE HORIZONTAL PLAIN OR FINNED TUBES, BETWEEN 6 AND 93% OF THE CRITICAL PRESSURE. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT OF PLAIN AND FINNED TUBES DECREASES WHEN PRESSURE INCREASES. PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE FORMATION OF BUBBLES ON FINS SHOW THAT THE DIAMETER OF THE BUBBLES DEPARTING FROM THE HEATED SURFACE APPEARS AT 1 MM BETWEEN TWO FINS, AT 10% OF THE CRITICAL PRESSURE. THE BUBBLES ARE MUCH SMALLER AT HIGH PRESSURES AND, CONSEQUENTLY, THE EFFECT OF FIN GEOMETRY IS SMALL.
