Summary

The author has studied the direct-contact vaporization of n-pentane injected into a water column. A description of the experimental equipment is given. The experimental study made it possible to study the influence of various inlet parameters on the thermal performance and on the void fraction for the whole of the flow patterns. The author shows experimentally that the void fraction is a decreasing function of the aspect ratio L/d of the heat exchange column in the case of counter flow. Finally, a numerical model is presented which allows the prediction of the temperatures of the phases and the mean void fraction.
