Hermetic compressor performance evaluation applying a zeotropic hydrocarbon blend instead of CFC-12.

Author(s) : JANSSEN M., BEKS P.

Summary

The paper deals with the evaluation of hermetic compressor performances when changing from the refrigerant CFC-12 to a zeotropic mixture of isobutane and propane. Performances are evaluated experimentally on a compressor calorimeter test bench for both refrigerants. Test results are compared to a theoretical analysis. The following points are discussed: influence of evaporation temperature, influence of refrigerant charge, and influence of pressure ratios.
