IIR document

The simulation energy efficiency of a refrigeration machine using natural refrigerants (mixtures based on ammonia).

Summary

An analysis of the research shows that all disadvantages of ammonia as a refrigerant can be avoided if ammonia-hydrocarbon mixtures are used. Such mixtures have not been thoroughly examined, though the existence of heteroazeotropes is proven. The aim of this study is to develop effective natural refrigerants for small refrigerating machines based on ammonia-hydrocarbon mixtures and to define their optimum compositions, thermodynamics and phase behaviour.
