Summary

The authors report experimental evidence that the high-critical temperature superconductivity in a cuprate perovskite occurs in a superlattice of Josephson coupled quantum wires. This particular heterostructure provides the physical mechanism raising critical temperature from the low-temperature range lower than 23 K to the high-temperature range between 30 and 150 K by amplification of the critical temperature of the homogeneous copper-oxygen plane by a factor of about 10.
