Summary

HOMOGENEOUS NUCLEATION OF ICE IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS CONTAINING PROPYLENE GLYCOL AND DMSO AS WELL AS IN THE VITRIFICATION SOLUTION HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED AS A FUNCTION OF PRESSURE AND CONCENTRATION. THE UNUSUAL BEHAVIOUR OF ICE NUCLEATION IN DILUTE SOLUTIONS OF THESE ORGANIC SOLUTES HAS BEEN EXPLAINED IN TERMS OF THE EFFECT OF PRESSURE ON THE LIQUIDUS TEMPERATURES OF THE SOLUTIONS.
