Hydrocarbon refrigerants.
Les frigorigènes HC.
Author(s) : SMET W. de
Type of article: Article
Summary
HCs refer to refrigerants with hydrocarbon bonds that are little known as refrigerants. They have however been used since 1926. Just as for many refrigerants used at that time, they cannot compete with the "freons" introduced in 1930. None of the refrigerants such as NH3, SO2, butane and propane used at the time were as effective either. CO2 under atmospheric pressure is not a liquid but rather a solid substance with a relatively low gas pressure.
