ICE STORAGE CAN REDUCE THE CONSTRUCTION COST OF OFFICE BUILDINGS.

Author(s) : PEARSON F. J.

Summary

THE PAPER DEMONSTRATES AN APPROACH THAT CAN BE USED TO REDUCE THE CONSTRUCTION COST OF OFFICE BUILDINGS THROUGH THE JUDICIOUS APPLICATION OF ICE-STORAGE SYSTEMS WHEN COMBINED WITH LOW-TEMPERATURE SUPPLY AIR AND LOW-TEMPERATURE CHILLED WATER DISTRIBUTION. THE TOTAL ENERGY OF THE AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM IS ADDRESSED. BY APPLYING THE INHERENT LOW-TEMPERATURE FEATURE OF ICE STORAGE TO AIR-HANDLING AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, ADVANTAGES BEYOND THE CENTRAL PLANT ARE REALIZED WHICH INCLUDE REDUCED SPACE REQUIREMENTS FOR AIR-HANDLING AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, AND FURTHER REDUCED ELECTRICAL LOADS.
