Summary

Recently, the ice/water transportation technique has been investigated in many institutes with the aim of increasing the capacity of cooling energy through pipelines of a district cooling system). The paper presents the flow and heat transfer characteristics of an ice/water mixture and a technique to control the cooling energy supplied through the pipe in district cooling system. The flow characteristics contain the flow pattern in a pipe, the pressure drop and blockage in piping elements and ice distribution characteristics in a branching section.
