Summary

Correlations of calculation of the vacuum rate, pressure drops through friction and exchange coefficients in two-phase flow mentioned in the literature are compared for two refrigerants: ammonia and R125. These comparisons show major differences. Various correlations are entered into a detailed physical model of a plate evaporator using a refrigerant and a secondary refrigerant. The impact of correlations on evaporator performance is analyzed for various operating conditions.
