STATES THAT FOLLOWING THE JUNE 1990 REVIEW, THE MONTREAL PROTOCOL HAS NOW BEEN AMENDED TO CALL FOR A COMPLETE BAN ON CFC AND HALON PRODUCTION (EXCLUDING A LIMITED NUMBER OF < ESSENTIAL > HALON USES) FROM THE YEAR 2000. A RECENT EEC REGULATION WILL BRING THE CFC BAN FORWARD IN EEC MEMBER STATES TO 1 JULY 1997, EXCEPT FOR ESSENTIAL (EG MEDICAL) USES.
