IMPROVEMENT OF HEAT EXCHANGERS.

Author(s) : TAGUCHI T., TANAKA J.

Summary

AS A CONSEQUENCE OF THE WORLDWIDE OIL CRISIS WHICH STARTED SOME YEARS AGO, MANUFACTURERS HAVE HAD TO PAY GREATER ATTENTION TO ENERGY SAVING EQUIPMENT AND IN THE REFRIGERATION INDUSTRY THIS HAS MEANT IMPROVING COMPRESSOR AND FAN EFFICIENCIES AND THE HEAT TRANSFER CAPACITY OF AIR-COOLED CONDENSERS. IN VIEW OF THE FACT THAT IN MANY APPLICATIONS IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ENLARGE THE HEAT TRANSFER SURFACES OF CONDENSERS, OTHER MEANS OF IMPROVEMENT HAVE HAD TO BE INVESTIGATED. THIS ARTICLE CONCENTRATES ESSENTIALLY ON IMPROVING THE AIR-SIDE HEAT TRANSFER RATIO (TESTING VARIOUS FIN CONFIGURATIONS) AS WELL AS THE REFRIGERANT-SIDE TRANSFER RATIO (INTERNAL GROOVING OF PIPES).
