A MODEL OF AN AIR-CONDITIONING CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR WITH EMPHASIS ON IN-TUBE ENHANCEMENT.

Author(s) : HUANG K., PATE M. B.

Summary

THE AUTHORS HAVE DEVELOPED A COMPUTATIONAL MODEL FOR AIR CONDI TIONING CONDENSERS AND EVAPORATORS WITH IN-TUBE ENHANCEMENT. THIS MODEL MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO DESIGN COILS OF FINNED-TUBE PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS IN BOTH HEATING AND COOLING MODES. THE MODEL ASSUMES STEADY STATE CONDITIONS WITH NON-HOMOGENEOUS TWO-PHASE FLOW INSIDE THE TUBE AND AIR CIRCULATION IN CROSS-FLOW OUTSIDE THE TUBES. SOLUTIONS WERE OBTAINED FOR 3 DIFFERENT ARRANGEMENTS OF THE TUBES ; AND THE HEAT TRANSFER RATES, THE OUTGOING AIR TEMPERATURE AND THE REFRIGERANT TEMPERATURES ARE PREDICTED.
