Improvement of the postharvest quality of strawberries.
Author(s) : MOKKILA M., RANDELL K., SARIOLA J., HÄGG M., HÄKKINEN U.
Summary
Even though the berries were precooled and cold-stored (2-5 deg C), quality was only maintained at best for 3 days. By picking the fruit at three-quarter ripeness, shelf-life was extended from 3 to 7 days. Precooling also had an effect on shelf life and injury during transport.
