In-tube condensation heat transfer of CO2 at low temperatures: a review.

Author(s) : IQBAL O., BANSAL P. K.

Summary

This paper presents a review of condensation heat transfer of CO2 inside a horizontal tube at low temperatures. The fundamentals of flow within a tube and two-phase flow patterns are introduced along with a review of corresponding empirical and semi-empirical correlations. A database comprising of over 100 experimental data points for condensation heat transfer coefficients of CO2 was created for a range of mass fluxes, tube diameters and saturation temperatures. Most existing correlations over predict the heat transfer coefficients in comparison with the experimental data from the literature, suggesting the need to develop a new correlation to predict condensation heat transfer of CO2 at low temperatures.
