In-tube evaporation and condensation of natural refrigerant R290 (propane).

Summary

In-tube tests are reported for smooth, microfin and crosshatched 9.52 mm outside diameter copper tubes. To measure the average local heat transfer coefficients, the test section was subdivided into four sections having 1 m heat exchanging length. The experimental data are compared with the predicting methods for in-tube evaporation and condensation heat transfer which mainly were developed for non-natural refrigerants (CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs).
