Summary

The Programme for Alternative Fluorocarbon Toxicity Testing, (PAFT), was sponsored by all 17 major refrigerant producers worldwide. Its goals were to determine health and environmental effects, and derive toxicity information as rapidly as possible. Starting with R134a and R123, then adding R141b, R124, R125, R225ca and R225cb, and R32, comprehensive toxicology programmes were initiated for each compound. By late 1995 the programme was virtually complete. The publication gives a summary of results for each compound. D.W.H.
