Influence of oil on the operation of vapour-compression refrigeration systems.

Author(s) : LOTTIN O., GUILLEMET P., LEBRETON J. M., et al.

Summary

Results concerning the response of refrigeration system simulation software to an increase of the amount of oil flowing with the refrigerant are presented. The effects of oil are found to be significant only when the quantity released by the compressor is above 0.5 to 1% of the refrigerant weight. Some conclusions are drawn concerning the optimum overheat control. In particular, it was shown that there were optima values for which either the exchanged power or the refrigeration COP is maximized.
