Summary

This paper presents results of experiments evaluating the performance of internal heat exchanger (IHX) with R134a as the refrigerant. Two different types of connection structures were calculated to optimize the pressure drop before prototype parts were made. Three coaxial internal heat exchangers of same length, same diameter but different fin numbers were used in the tests to study the influence of fin numbers. Two samples with same structure while with different length were tested to investigate the length effects on cooling capacity. Two samples with different configuration were used in the experiments to check the result difference on performance. Conclusions are drawn for different IHX structures for future usage in industry.
