Summary
The morphology, growth, flowering, fruiting and fruit physical and chemical characteristics of grafted Myrciaria sp. cv. Sabara trees are described. A storage experiment was conducted in an attempt to improve the poor storage life of the fruits. It was found that a combination of modified-atmosphere packaging and low temperature (10 deg C) extended storage life from 2 days in controls (no packaging; ambient temperature) to 25 days. Fruits stored at 10 deg C without packaging had a storage life of 15 days.
