Summary

STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MEMBRANES WERE STUDIED AT TEMPERATURES ABOVE AND BELOW ZERO. THE METHOD OF EPR SPIN PROBES ALLOWSTO OBTAIN INFORMATION ABOUT THE STATE OF ELECTRON TRANSPORT CHAIN OF MITOCHONDRIAL MEMBRANES AT LOW TEMPERATURES. STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN MEMBRANES NEAR 285, 279 AND 261 K (12, 6 AND -12 DEG C) AS WELL AS INCREASING THE RATE OF STABLE RADICALS AFTER EXTRACELLULAR CRYSTALLIZATION ARE SHOWN.
