Summary
THREE ENRICHING MEDIA AND TWO SECONDARY ENRICHMENT TECHNIQUES WERE EVALUATED FOR THE SUITABILITY OF ISOLATING YERSINIA STRAINS FROM PORK CARCASSES AND TONGUES. THE ISOLATES WERE CHARACTERISED BY BIOCHEMICAL AND SEROLOGIC ANALYSIS. THE COMBINATION OF INCUBATION ON A BUFFERED SORBITOL-BILIARY SALTS-PHOSPHATE SALINE MEDIUM, DURING 21 DAYS AT 277 K (4 DEG C) AND OF ENRICHMENT ON A RAPPAPORT BROTH GIVES THE BEST RESULTS.
