Summary
Frozen vegetable imports have increased from 242,000 tonnes in 1982 to 480,000 tonnes in 1991 with foreign sourced products, notably from the USA, accounting for 80%. Potatoes were the principal import followed by corn, soybean and other beans. The use of these vegetables is reviewed in some detail. A list of the major Japanese importers and the import distribution chain are also given. G.R.S.
