Summary
For refrigeration year '98 (October '97-September '98) results dropped below those in refrigeration year '97 for all items. While domestic shipments of room air conditioners totaled 6.55 million units, down 8% below refrigeration year '97, those of packaged air conditioners accounted for 682,000 units, down 13%. According to an industry source, shipments in the coming '99 season are expected to be comparable to, or better by about 5% than, those in '98 season. Full scale recovery will take place from 2000.
