Author(s) : REAY D.

Type of monograph: Report

Summary

This report provides in-depth information on commercially available newer compact heat exchanger (CHE) designs, construction features, materials, operation, advantages, limitations, size comparisons, and industrial applications. It summarises the advantages and limitations of these heat exchangers, design and cost considerations, and recent technology developments. A total of 27 industrial heat exchanger applications demonstrate how some of the problems associated with CHEs can be successfully overcome. Extract from the table of contents: types of compact heat exchangers; heat transfer enhancement; advantages and perceived limitations; costs; fouling; specification, installation and operating procedures; some current developments; demonstration projects. In addition, the design and analysis theory, available software, information on heat exchanger awareness groups, and a list of compact heat exchanger suppliers are included in the appendices.
