Compact heat exchangers: selection, design and operation.

Author(s) : HESSELGREAVES J. E.

Type of monograph: Book

Summary

This book presents the ideas and industrial concepts in compact heat exchanger technology that have been developed over the past 10 years. Historically, the development and application of compact heat exchangers and their surfaces have taken place in a piecemeal fashion in a number of rather unrelated areas, principally those of the automotive and prime mover, aerospace, cryogenic and refrigeration sectors. One of the industrial sectors that is waking up to the challenges of compact heat exchangers is the process sector, which is particularly focused on in the book. Extract from the table of contents: industrial compact exchangers; the heat exchanger as part of a system: exergetic (Second Law) analysis; surface comparisons, size, shape and weight relationships; surface types and correlations; thermal design; compact heat exchangers in practice.
