Summary

Legionella, the cause of Legionnaire's disease, is a bacteria that is naturally occurring in water and is found in water pipes. Its proliferation constitutes a serious public-health hazard. Contamination occurs through inhalation. The most common causes underlying dangerous bacterial proliferation are: a hot water temperature that is too low, stagnation of water in circuits, sedimentation and scale in pipes.
