Light hydrocarbons as refrigerants and blowing agents for insulation in household appliances.
Author(s) : LOTZ H.
Summary
The author gives an overview of the current state of development in Germany and the future trends in household appliances. He discusses the new refrigerants and the new blowing agents for insulation. Using hydrocarbons as refrigerants and pentane as propellant for insulation means that some risk assessment needs to be done. In the paper some safety requirements for refrigerant charging in manufacturing of refrigerators and freezers with hydrocarbons are discussed. The author also presents some environmental aspects, showing the chronological development of the TEWI values of his company's products.
