Summary

IN JAPAN NATURAL GAS IS IMPORTED AS LNG. MANY LOW-TEMPERATURE TECHNOLOGIES WERE DEVELOPED AND UTILIZED TO PRODUCE, TRANSPORT, STORE AND EVAPORATE LARGE QUANTITIES OF LNG. ALTHOUGH LNG IS NORMALLY EVAPORATED INTO GAS BY HEATING IT WITH SEA WATER, THE LOW-TEMPERATURE ENERGY OF LNG IS WASTED. SO THIS LOW-TEMPERATURE ENERGY HAS ALSO BEEN UTILIZED TO PRODUCE LIQUEFIED OXYGEN, NITROGEN, AND CARBON DIOXIDE AND DRY ICE TO OPERATE COLD STORES AND GENERATE ELECTRIC POWER.
