Lubricity evaluation for lubricants used in refrigeration with HFC134a.

Summary

The study presents an example of a lubricity evaluation procedure enabling simulation of a wide variety of operating conditions and concerns a piston-type hermetic compressor operating with 134a refrigerant fluid. The friction tests developed to evaluate lubricants are carried out. These tests enable a realistic image to be obtained of the way the system operates on a real mechanical level. In the presence of 134a, the lubricants tested have better in-service behaviours than those obtained with the couple mineral oil-R12.
