Maladjusted balancing equipment: effect on building temperature.

Organes d'équilibrage mal réglés : incidence sur la température des locaux.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The drawbacks of thermal imbalance of hot water heating facilities are reviewed as well as its permanent or/and temporary causes. Prior to any hydraulic rebalance operation, a precise diagnosis has to be drawn up in order to identify any other possible preliminary operations to be carried out for new installations as well as existing installations. The different types of balance installations required for control are indicated. Practical advice for manufacturers, designers, installers and users is given through four charts giving the variations of indoor temperature for a control setting equal to more or less a quarter opening turn compared to the normal control position. The following cases are studied: an emitter equipped with a manual regulating valve or a high, middle or low performance thermostatic valve. The annexes present the hydraulic calculation of an emitter and a summary of indoor temperature variations induced by a control setting of more or less a quarter opening turn. J.L.
