Summary

This article is the Spanish translation of a paper presented at the IIR meeting in Auckland, New Zealand (see the Bulletin of the IIR, reference 2007-0872). A simple system was designed to convert a container from vertical to horizontal airflow in an attempt to improve the desired pulp temperatures. This would in turn reduce the unevenness of temperatures experienced and hopefully improve the market quality of the plums. This paper reports on how the horizontal airflow was achieved as well as the pulp temperatures recorded and subsequent benefits to product quality on plums, mangos, and avocados and citrus. The implication of this for fruit exporters is discussed.
