Summary
Heat exchange in absorbers in refrigerating plant is influenced by mass exchange through vapour absorption and the design of this equipment is not the same as that of traditional heat exchangers. For absorber design, a mathematical model has been set up; it comprises differential equations. Numerical integration begins in the upper part of the equipment and ends when the concentration reaches a certain value. An optimal system can be obtained using the least possible amounts of metal, taking into account height with respect to diameter. This study was performed taking into account the sprinkling density, the tube diameter and the cooling water flow rate.
