Development of a new refrigerant.

Author(s) : MISAKI S., SEKIYA A.

Summary

HCFCs, HFCs, and hetero-compounds are the possible fluorinated alternatives of CFCs. The authors were especially interested in researching fluorinated hetero-compounds. The research surveys a new compound with a completely different molecular structure from currently developed CFC alternatives such as HCFCs and HFCs. The national project, development of an advanced refrigerant for compression heat pumps, was carried out from February 1990 to February 1994 to develop fluorine compounds containing heteroatoms such as oxygen, nitrogen, or silicon. The authors describe the possibility of some fluorinated ether compounds as the candidate of refrigerant.
