Measurements of saturated densities and critical parameters for the propane + isobutane system.

Author(s) : HIGASHI Y.

Summary

The vapour-liquid coexistence curves near the critical point for the propane (R290) + isobutane (R600a) system have been measured by visual observation of the meniscus disappearance. Sixteen data for the saturated vapour and liquid densities for the 50 mass% R290 + 50 mass% R600a mixture have been obtained. For the 75 mass% R290 + 25 mass% R600a mixture, eighteen data for the saturated vapour and liquid densities have been obtained. The standard uncertainties of the temperature measurements and density measurements are estimated to be 10 mK and 0.55%, respectively. On the basis of the results of the vapour-liquid coexistence curve, the critical temperature and the critical density for the R290 + R600a system have been determined in consideration of the meniscus disappearance level as well as the intensity of the critical opalescence.
