Vapour-liquid equilibrium for propane-isobutane mixture.

Summary

Measurements of the vapour-liquid equilibrium for propane (R290, C3H8) and isobutane (R600a, i-C4H10) mixture, which is considered as the prospective alternatives of CFC refrigerants for refrigerators, were carried out in the temperature range between 283.15 and 313.15 K. The experimental uncertainties for temperature, pressure, and composition were estimated within more or less 10 milliK, 5 kilopascals and 0.4 mol %, respectively. On the basis of the experimental data, the temperature dependence of the binary interaction parameter k12 for Carnahan-Starling-De Santis equation of state (CSD equation) was calculated. In addition, the pressure-temperature diagram for 50 wt.% propane-50 wt.% isobutane mixture was drawn.
