THIS STUDY INVESTIGATES MEASURES TO CONTROL THE FOAMING OF THE OIL-REFRIGERANT MIXTURE BY USING A MODEL FOAMING APPARATUS AND A PRACTICAL ROTARY COMPRESSOR. THE FOAMING CAUSED BY BLADE ROTATION IS CONTROLLED BY A PLATE WHICH PREVENTS A VORTEX FROM SWALLOWING UP REFRIGERANT VAPOR, THE FOAMING CAUSED BY VAPOR BLOW IS DEPRESSED BY A BLOW PIPE EXTENDING OVER THE MIXTURE BASED ON THESE RESULTS, SOME DEFOAMING MEASURES IN THE PRACTICAL COMPRESSOR ARE EXAMINED. MEASUREMENTS OF THE FOAMING PROVE THAT SIMPLE COVERS WHICH SEPARATE DISCHARGE BLOW FROM THE MIXTURE UNDER THE MOTOR HAVE A GREAT EFFECT OF DEFOAMING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTROL OF THE FOAMING HAS A FAVORABLE INFLUENCE ON THE TRANSIENT PERFORMANCE OF THE REFRIGERATING CYCLE.
