Summary
A "cold-air cycle" machine (using helium) has been developed with free piston compressors which are not mechanically coupled. The high-temperature piston is driven by a linear magnetic motor, and the heat source is natural gas. A very compact unit of 3 kilowatt capacity is planned for 1995. Pollution levels are very low.
