Author(s) : XIANG W., TASSOU S. A.

Summary

The cold air spillage from vertical open multi-deck display cabinets into the aisles of retail food stores, causes discomfort to the shoppers and staff and leads to energy wastage. The paper reports on results of investigations into the "cold aisle effect" using CFD. The paper proposes a method of aisle air management and heating which can lead to a considerable reduction or elimination of the "cold aisle effect" and a reduction in the overall energy consumption of the store.
