Modelling the refrigerant-oil equilibrium.

Modélisation des équilibres frigorigène-huile.

Author(s) : BOUGARD J., JADOT R.

Summary

The fluids of refrigerating machines, air conditioners or heat pumps are in fact binary mixtures of the refrigerant and the lubricating oil. Liquid-vapour and/or liquid-liquid equilibrium data are thus needed. The authors constructed an equilibrium glass cell for the measurements of the data. It allows also the view of the phases in equilibrium in order to detect any poor mixture. The liquid-vapour equilibrium data on R22 and R134a with some oils are measured in the range from -25 to 55 deg C for the temperature, and from 0 to 2000 kilopascals for the pressure. The results were successfully correlated with the solution model. The model is nevertheless unable to predict correctly the liquid-liquid equilibrium data. Only qualitative results are observed.
