Determination of the performance, leak scenario, flammability and oil return characteristics of a novel R22 replacement.

Author(s) : ROBERTS N. A.

Summary

Across the world the agreed HCFC-22 phase-out schedules have led to the development of non-flammable zero ozone depletion potential replacements. Most of the R22 substitutes have included R32 as one of the blend components and require fully synthetic lubricants, but there is one non-flammable substitute that has been developed, which does not utilize R32 and can be used with traditional lubricants in the majority of applications. The paper discusses the development of the blend comparing the performance characteristics under laboratory conditions.
