Author(s) : HANSEN I.

Summary

The article describes what it claims to be first recently developed ammonia refrigerating plant for reefers. The following areas are discussed: ammonia as refrigerant in comparison with the traditional CFC/HCFC refrigerants; construction of refrigerating plant and the special technical requirements; special safety problems and the solutions to them; control, supervision and alarm system for refrigerating plant and cargo holds and preparations for controlled atmosphere.
