THE IMPROVEMENT OF VACUUM FREEZE-DRYING REQUIRES THE OPTIMIZAT ION OF OPERATIVE PARAMETERS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INDIRECT, ON-LINE METHOD TO MEASURE DEHYDRATION IN ORDER TO DEFINE REGULATION ALGORITHMS AND AUTOMATIC MONITORING OF THE THIS PAPER EMPHASISES THE RESEARCHES AND RESULTS COMPLETED ON THE SUBJECT. AN OVERALL MONITORING OF THE PROCESS STILL SEEMS DIFFICULT TO REACH, BUT THE END OF THE SUBLIMATION OR OF THE DESORPTION CAN BE DETECTED.
