Monte Carlo study of magnetocaloric effect of Heusler shape memory Ni-Mn-x (x= In, Sn) alloys.

Summary

In this paper, the authors present a theoretical model used to investigate the magnetocaloric effects and magnetic properties of the Heusler Ni(50)Mn(25+x)X(25-x) (x= In, Sn) alloys by the Monte Carlo method. The temperature dependences of the magnetization, tetragonal deformation, heat capacity, positive and negative isothermal magnetic entropy changes for magnetic field variation at the structural and magnetic phase transitions are obtained. All quantities are in qualitatively agreement with the available experimental data.
