Author(s) : SCHUBERT P.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Although the contribution of HFCs, PFCs and SF6 to the expected global warming will be very small, the latter gases had been included in the Kyoto Protocol. Particularly HFCs are needed to complete the phase out of ozone depleting substances, that are controlled under the Montreal Protocol. The article compares the contribution of HFCs versus CO2 to global warming, along with measurements and policies being considered in Europe to reduce HFC emissions.
