Natural gas as an alternative to coal for heating Kragujevac.
Prirodni gas: alternativa uglju za grejanje Kragujevca.
Author(s) : IVOSEV M. A., VESOVIC S.
Summary
This paper essentially consists of three groups of data. The first group includes general data from the Serbian heating plants. The second group of data is based on the combustion product parameters measured in "ENERGETIKA" doo Kragujevac, in 2007/2008 heating season, on the country's two biggest industrial steam boilers: the one using coal and the other one using natural gas. The third group of data shows the total annual quantities of hazardous and harmful combustion products from the heating plants in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac. This selection was made since these are the four biggest cities in Serbia and due to the fact that between them there are significant differences regarding the environmental aspects of fuel combustion: on a yearly basis, Belgrade heating plants use all three types of fuel (approximately 290 000 000 nm3 of natural gas, 57 000 tons of crude oil and 7 000 tons of coal per annum), the heating plants in Novi Sad use natural gas (approximately 100 000 000 nm3), the heating plants of Nis use natural gas (approximately 2 500 000 nm3) and crude oil (8000 tons) and Kragujevac uses all three types of fuel (approximately 80 000 tons of coal, 700 tons of crude oil and 14 000 000 nm3 of natural gas). By comparing all three groups of data, natural gas is the only alternative to coal for Kraguejvac in the future, from the environmental aspect of fuel combustion.
