Near zeotrope blends or R125-R134a cascade: what choice for substitution of R502?

Author(s) : CLODIC D., DEWITTE P.

Summary

The work presents the comparison between a single stage system working with R404A and a cascading system working with R125 for the low temperature stage and R134a for the high temperature one. The experiments which are described show that for an evaporating temperature of -40 deg C and condensing temperatures varying between 38 and 50 deg C, the expected efficiency is not reached.
