Neon production process based on pressure swing adsorption (PSA).

Summary

Neon is generally separated by the rectification process or temperature swing adsorption process. The authors have developed an original neon production process based on the PSA process (combined the PSA-process with the hydrogen-removal-process), which recovers neon from the top gas of the lower column of the air separation plant. The neon plant for this process, described in the paper, which has 1,000 Nm3/year production capacity, has been working in the authors' Wakayama Works (Japan), since 1997. In addition to neon, the authors are producing xenon and krypton with their recently developed adsorption process. these processes are also introduced.
