Summary

CTIFL is a professional organization for research on fresh fruits and vegetables, from growing to retail and consumption. CTIFL works on objective quality measurement, if possible by non-destructive methods, especially for firmness and colour. Some devices are presented: three for measuring firmness only, one for measuring firmness, sugar content and acidity and one for reading the starch index of apples or pears. All these instruments are now commercialized in France.
